Well my iAudio has died the death after being abused during two years of long distance commutes. It would appear the battery has died .. and while it didn't go pzzzt - I suspect the death of the battery also took out the HDD.
So I've been looking for a replacemnt .. and there's nothing that supports FLAC and has 20GB+ stoarge without frigging with operating systems etc - That is until I came across a subnote on the iAudio A2. It's 30Gb and handles DiVX movies also - a later software release has included FLAC in it's capabilities. Given that the iAudio X5L 30Gb is commanding 120-150 quid on ebay still, I figured and extra 40 quid for a large screen and same storage/battery life and the capability to support DiVX was worth it.
I had a little cash sitting there from some ebay sales - so I figured I'd get the A2. Fingers crossed.
One other point ... what benefits would a portable amp bring to an portable MP3 player? Is it just to help drive higher impedance phones? Which in turn brings better reoslution .. or would an amp, MP3 player, and IEMs sound better than MP3 player and IEMs all other things being equal?
