Today, I got a "ringing" sound when connecting the headphone plug to the v3 (from around 2004, all as it was, except for a little pinkie psu). There is also some ringing when I move the headphone cable around. No ringing whatsoever, if daisy-chain the v3 (switched off), and use a different headphone amp (NwAvGuy O2). Any ideas what might be going on with the v3?

Actually...... if you've been running the same valves for 16 years it's most certainly knackered valves. The 6922 valves have an in spec lifespan of 5000 hours.

Thank's for the quick diagnosis! Then I'll order a new pair of Valves (hoping that you have some in stock).

I have sent the mail Also, there seems to be a bit of a power surge when I switch the xcan on. I have it connected to the same power strip as my monitor, and it goes dark for a second when I switch the xcan on. Is that the same issue also the tubes, or are they all like that?

So if you see this thread (even if that is a few years down the line) and are on the fence here on the valve swap, just go for it. DEEPLY recommended ( perhaps if you just still have the stock valves, just swap, but then swap to these valves)
