Hi every one New here.Although I’ve purchased all the upgradable ingredients for my amp which is now all soldered in. I’ve been making a new amp chassis out of wood and I’m splitting the top board from the lower board.its a bit of a different design and I’ll post on here once finished as it’s a design as I go. The question I have is,the section of wires in connectors connecting the two boards together, are they for sound ? Power ? Etc ? So the reason I ask is that I’m going to be making new longer wires. A few years ago I picked up some vampire occ solid copper core 26 awg which I’ve used for headphone cables.which incidentally do sound rather nice especially when mixed with silver solid core wire.would using this better quality wire be ok to use and would this change the sound at all ? Question 2. Does any one know the size of the dc power socket as wanting to replace this to a chassis socket Much appreciate an answer Regards

Question 2. Does any one know the size of the dc power socket as wanting to replace this to a chassis socket Much appreciate an answer Regards Hi Ears, Welcome to the forum. The wires connecting the upper board to the lower board are power supply feeds. The upper board is the PSU board and all of the connections to the lower "amp" board are power supply related. I have never had the inclination to pull the guts out of a shielded aluminium X-CANS (V1) enclosure and employ them in a wooden enclosure...... you've got your reasons for doing it and, as such, that's a personal project for you and not one that I can give advice on.... go with your gut instinct and experiment, you have nothing to lose The DC power socket is a 2.1mm type...... polarity not essential as it is an AC supply. Hope this helps, All the best, Mike.
