Which one?

Hi Guys

I'm new to the forum 

I have recently rediscovered my X-Cans v1 that I bought brand new around 1997 (I think).

It's got me interested in having a go at a bit of modding, so my question is - which version of the X-Can is the best after suitable tweaks?

Listened to both v1 & v2 both had Mikes upgrades kit fitted and upgraded PSUs (used same psu on each and swapped psu’s in case different makes made a difference) and tbh didn’t hear much difference but Mike is the expert he’ll give the best answer. Sure he’ll know

Hi Colin,

I agree with Martin...... both of them scrub up well when tweaked. My "personal" favourite between the X-CANS, X-CAN V2, X-CAN V3 and X-CAN V8 is the X-CAN V2 with the X-CANS (V1) a very close second. To my ears the V1 and V2 were the best sounding headphone amps MF made and both respond extremely well to tweaks / upgrades.

If you already have a V1 then I would most certainly recommend you upgrade it..... it will take it from OK to superb!

Do you offer an upgrade service by any chance as my soldering skills are pretty basic?

to be honest, my V1 has a lot of sentimental value to me so I may be looking on ebay for one to have modified
