I'm looking for a small hifi amp of decent quality and the x-series seem to tick a lot of boxes. I consider electrolytic caps to be a consumable in audio, so anything over 10years old that runs warm will get a service. Bearing this in mind that I will be upgrading caps and probably opamps. Which integrated amps should I be considering? How do the following compare: X-A1 X-A2/200R X-150 X-T100
Is there really much difference between the original x-series and the v3 and v8 versions?
Thanks

Thanks Nando is your man to answer that question...... he has a lot more "ear on" experience of the amps you have listed. All the best, Mike.

Hi!
I have listened to some of the listed amps but it is a while ago. I have no experience with the square amps that came after the round models. Musical Fidelity sounds a bit warm and I found them to present a big stage in front of you.
I have the most experience with the x-a200 mono blocks. But MF didn’t sell a lot of the other x series for nothing. They are fine amps. Replacing caps can be a puzzle bevause of the smaller size casing and, in case of the round models, sometimes limited height inside.

Well I have procured an X-DAC v3 for reasonable money, so I now want an X-150 to partner it. After a good read (and chuckle at a certain thread) modifications to the dac will commence once I've had a good listen. I'm hunting an amp (an a reasonable price).
