So I bought a used X-Can V2 and was disappointed by the sound. I bought the Rock Grotto upgrade kit and the difference is huge. Now It's a completely different amp.
There is still one annoying problem though. When I turn down the volume to zero I can still hear the source playing in the left channel. It's not very loud but I can still hear it there in the background. I opened it up again, checked the polarity of the new caps and diodes one more time and then resoldered all joints. I must say the PCB is really poor quality, but all joints looked okay even from the start. The TIP110/115 joints seemed a bit dry though. I also tried switching the tubes. None of it helped and the source bleed through is still present. Could it be related to a faulty semi-conductor or maybe a bad input cap?
I also experience loud popping sounds in the left channel when plugging/unplugging the amp.
I'm stuck and would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Bad connection of the headphone socket? A faulty headphone socket itself?

Every last one of them will leak sound into the left channel at ZERO volco levels, all of then (bar none) do this....... it's to be expected / nature of the beast with the V2. None of us listen to music with the volume turned down to ZERO so it's not a problem (unless you listen to the amp with the volume turned down to ZERO) the stock potentiometers are 50K linear types so they are quite agressive (low to loud VERY fast) much better to fit a 50K log pot instead, they give better "usable" travel. I don't recognise you from your forum handle but if you e-mail me I'll explain in more detail.
All the best,
Mike.

Hi Fredrik I just cross referenced your forum e-mail address and realised it was you OK...... can you take a few photos for me (of the soldering job) and send them to me via e-mail / or upload here if you prefer. Let's "visually" have a look at things for starters. The slight left channel bleed at ZERO volco is par for the course..... when I say "par for the course" I mean "barely audible"....... loud popping sounds are NOT and I repeat NOT normal! Set your camera onto macro mode and send me photos of the solder joints you have worked on (top and bottom board) also send me a few photos of the components in position. Don't worry, it will be something simple....... If push comes to shove then I'll be happy to rectify any soldering errors by you free of charge. All the best Mike. Once again........ don't worry.

Bad connection of the headphone socket? A faulty headphone socket itself? I have a new socket and the joints look good so I don't think it's the socket. Thank you for your thoughts.
