Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa.
I have no water, but I do have a newly-purchased NOS X-Can V3!
Found it on Gumtree, of all places, advertised by a well-known high end hifi dealer.
Bargain price, 1 year guarantee and literally taken out of the box once to test.
I shan't wax lyrical about the unit itself within the ambit of this post (maybe later).
Suffice it to say this has been one of my better headfi finds of late.
I'm sure this question has been raised before, but a quick forum search did not reveal.
The "pamphlet" that accompanies the amp states that it is designed to remain powered up indefinitely.
It also states that one shouldn't open it, with no mention made that it even contains tubes.
It further warns against using anything other than the supplied PSU...
I'm therefore not in a hurry to take their word for much.
Far rather enquire here, where most blokes know more about the V3 than anyone else on the planet.
Is it in fact accepted practice to leave this amp permanently powered up?
Would it not prolong valve life to switch it off after each session?
At this point I will use the provided wall wart until I get off my ass and find something better.
Any and all feedback much appreciated!
