Anybody over on the far side of the pond heard any useful information about the Linn Keel upgrade for the LP12? I purchased a new setup just about two years ago (jan '05) and was wondering if the Keel upgrade was worth investigating? Again, thoughts are appreciated.

no direct experience with the Linn or the Keel mod itself though reading the information available it makes good sense when you consider the stylus/disc interface is all about vibration and inertia. Having a single moving mass is usally the ideal unless you are trying to dissapate vibration then it is constrained-layered that you want so rigid in the arm board sub assembly then vibration dissapation in the turntable base/stand causing (in theory) zero vibrational influence TO the disc interface assuming the motor vibrations are already isolated and it should be in a belt drive suspension type turntable.
Considering the Linn is close to my AR XA in design getting the platter/tonearm/cartidge/disc moving as a whole is a good thing and that means rigid with the only question being is the upgrade a big enough improvement to justify the extra cash outlay or put another way-how important is your vinyl playback system to you in the constext of your music system and if the Star Player then any expense justified even if the improvements are only incremental

Stereoplay mag over here has a review in the recent 3/07 issue, in which they haven't only checked the SE version on the whole, but also the upgrade parts piece by piece on a standard LP12. According to that, Trampolin/1 brought some improvement, but not in all aspects, while the Keel was considered to make quite a big difference (and it better should for the price, I'd think), just like the new Ekos version.

I use an LP12 but the Keel seems like an awful lot of money. It would after be a vast upgrade before I would part with that kinda dosh. I guess if your loaded though, go for it & enjoy.

I believe 90 of the 280 strong workforce have been made redundant.
