Hi, Marantz SA7001 KI - Ken Ishiwata modified vs. Philips C 650 "FritzS" modified First compare - very little difference between (CD) - but about 20 years difference in life Philips engineers had done "a good work" too But the Philips CD 650 is modified from me www.stockhammer.eu/hifi/ Sound difference - but the differences are very small Marantz - fuller, more front-line, a bit less air between the musicans Philips - lighter, airy, filigree, more air between CD/SACD I compare with PF "Dark Side Of The Moon" (hybrid CD). Here is the difference audible SACD sounds definitiv better! ;D Philips works about 100 .... 1000 hours in his life - I dont know this Marantz works 48 (Marantz avouches at least 48 h burn-in time for KI Signature models) plus 4 hours. The WNA sounds better than the internal Marantz headphone amp My additional equipment - WNA MKII (AD843), Sennh. HD600, DIY + Marantz original cable

I had seen the schema from SA7001 KI ..... analog path are discrete (transitors + JFET's) build OP amps - but electrolyte caps + resitors in line of the output - the analog part looks like similar to the old Philips CD 650 but superior grade My Philips CD 650 reacts about the Marantz remote control Philips & Marantz CD player are kinsman ..... they are working together in foretime ..... I guess the US SA8001 is very similar to the SA7001 KI (I found some hints in the schema about SA8001 too).
