It feels more like winter

A couple of weeks ago I was out in the garden chopping down the grass in a "T-Shirt"..... what a difference a few days make up here...... today I found myself sporting my winter "bobble hat", fingerless mitts and full winter attire. We really do have shit weather in this country don't we? No wonder everybody is depressed / moaning about one thing or another....... the weather plays a big part in that.
I have FINALLY reached a firm conclusion..... I can't do this anymore and want to live somewhere warm. It's going to cost around £7,000 to get the house report showing a clean bill of health but worth every penny. It basically highlights an "infestation" of woodworm in the upper section of the building and "rising damp" in one area of one room in the house. Apparently it only takes ONE woodworm hole to be classed as an "infestation" and a leaking gutter could give the surveyor doing the home report a false reading of rising damp.
I dropped the price of the house by 10K thinking that any potential buyer would spend that 10K on the work that required doing. Nope, this CRAZY home report (by a bunch of surveyors who are obviously in cahoots with the building trade) is putting potential purchasers off even VIEWING the house.
The woodworm / damp brigade are coming in next Tuesday and they reckon they will be here for two days and all will be fine (30 year warranty and all that shite)...... 2 days = £7,000??!!!!
Anyhoo...... it gets quite interesting because a chap "in the know" that I was speaking to suggested that I offer them £500 (the £7,000 crowd). for the certificate and "apparently" this certificate is all that is required to say the work has been done and the home report would be given a clean bill of health.
He was pretty much "nudge nudge / wink wink / Speak to Donald" type thing so I did but in my best foreign accent (a mixture of Cornwall and Sunderland) under a different name (Jolep Danko).
"Hello can I speak to the man they call Donald?"
"This is Donny, how can I help?"
"I need proof that work has been done, I think you call it guarantee in the UK?)
I explained the problem (in full) and essentially asked him (in a strange accent) if he would accept £500 cash to say the work had been completed.
I couldn't believe it..... he said YES but "it would be a cash only transaction".
Back to the drawing board with regard to that outfit! I realise that the £500 "bung" will do the trick re: the home report but If that's the way these guys are operating the £7,000 2 day job will be equally worthless. If all it takes is a bit of paper to say the work has been done then I have zero confidence in any of them...... I want to sell my home in good order..... is there anybody honest and hard working still out there who's main goal in life is NOT making a fast buck?
