Am I defeating the 24 Bit DAC in my X-Ray by taking the CD signal into my 18 Bit X-DAC? The X-DAC has two outs, one to my X-Cans & one to my X-Pre. The X-Pre goes into my Melody 6P1S model valve amp. Should I be running the X-Ray straight into the X-Pre?

( I could have missed it though) It may very well be only 16/44.1. What it comes down to is trying the X-Ray directly into your X Cans or Pre and see which you prefer. The analogue out from the X-Ray is likely to be superior if they have implemented it as well as they claim. Musical Fidelity should be able to tell you what is actually coming out via Digital Out from the X-Ray .
