Not sure exactly what defines it. US small micro brewers? My word though, beer just keeps getting better. Beer drinkers are living in the age of enlightenment. English real ales and these American bottled craft beers. Wonderful.

We have a couple of local craft beer brewers on the coast here. Ashamed to say I haven't tried them yet.
Where I live in the mountains we also have two local wine producers. Jarel and Bentomiz, the latter is the newer one but also the better by some way.

Thai beers are mainly Singha and Chang. The names refer to lion-dog (mythical creature shown in my profile here) and elephant, respectively. There are a few other brands like Leo and Tiger but these are lesser marks from the same breweries or purchased brands from elsewhere. There are a few smaller breweries like Phuket Beer, whether these qualify as cask beers I have no idea and again I haven't tried them.
Singha tastes like a medium German beer and Chang tastes like Carlsberg, in fact Chang and Carlsberg had a very close business relationship for many years, possibly explaining the similarity.
I too enjoy a single malt, Lagavulin is my fave but it's getting pricey now. When I drank much more than I do now, proper Russian vodka was my go to tipple. The only half decent one I've found here is Moskovskaya.

Beer is one of those araes where modern techniques and logistics are helping old processes without overwelming them (Australian wine in the late 90's is a good example of too much modern and not enought traditional).
I'm also (if not more so) enjoying the resurgence in gin production, helped by new and very good tonics - there is a serious history to gin production which matches that for Whiskey.
Its also better for my health drinking less but better quality !!

Its also better for my health drinking less but better quality !! I fully agree with that! In fact I've become quite the lightweight for alcohol. If on the single malt I'll have only one generous measure (Spanish size, not the UK's one drop in the bottom of the glass) that I'll sip to enjoy the complex flavours. If beer, just two, tops three. However, on the vodka it just depends on my mood, start with half a tumbler, may have more. (no ice or mixer, straight from the freezer).
