If I can just chuck in my twopence worth, dons asbestos suit.

I had a mess about with a whole bunch of interconnects a while back and I found the differences to be very subtle. However, one of the differences was to do with the "space" around the separate instruments and vocals and also slight changes to the depth of the image. So two cables might have similar overall balance, same throughout the frequency spectrum, but with one it might seem that there's more distance between the drummer and the singer in front of him.

I tried the different cables using speakers, but when I use headphones, for me it's like a miniature band is playing in my head, so I don't think these subtle, perceived, spacial differences would have been apparent.

Very very possible Xerxes and a very good point indeed. Soundstage and imaging are pretty "wrong" with headphones as it is and the only way to shift it into verging on normal is with crossfeed but that, in itself, is another load of parts in the signal path and I tend to avoid it..........

Yeh, good point though. As mentioned earlier I've spoken to drunk cable manufacturers.. well, better not go there

the guy has the best step by step crossfeed instructions on the internet but if you try to pin him down pretty much tells folks to take their crossfeeds and stick them in a painful area.Nice guy that

BTW Mikester.I ever tell you about my soundstage expander/psuedo headphone surround device ?

toally passive and uses phase/frequency/time twisting that can be punched in at the flick of a switch for true five channel decoding or "assisted" stereo.
Most control positions are "additive" so the main image left alone leaving the essence of the music untouched but can be modified on demand for full on psudo surround decoding

Soon as I introduce the cost effective commercial LEADED version,protect my copy rights against "clones" I think maybe this joint will be ready for its first "Project Library" addition for those who want to roll their own.

I deliberately did not suggest that you may have an auditory problem.......

I have to say that A friend who has used my ic to his head amp swears by them......but I've not used them in that way [no decent headphone amp currently.

I also did not say Night and day.......The most a cable can chnge is about 10% if you want to put some empirical numbers on it.

If your using a good IC already ...your not really going to hear a great deal more, its going to be inthe detail and presentation.

and lastly if your a paid up member of the sceptic association ....are you going to hear any change ? Then if you do will you invalidate your membership ....[said tongue in cheek].
