Hello All,
I have a question and would like some opinions on experiences. There are DACs and then there are the clocks like the Trichord.
I have an MF A308CD and I also have an X-10D v3 (modified) + PSU. The latter, X-10D, is routed between the pre and power of my MF A1001. Just considering potential near-ish future upgrades. Got the itchy finger again.
The most obvious choice would be the MF X-DAC as I already have the other two components. I essentially regard the X-DAC as 1/3 of a Tri-Vista.
Or would a clock upgrade with a clock PSU be the route to go?
Who's tried either? What are the advantages or disdavantages?
Many thanks

Hi I have a Transport and Dac combination myself and have used the Meridian 500 transport and 563 dac for about 2 years now. Bought second hand I might add. Very happy with the sound and yes I have tried the dac with cd players acting as transports. The results have been good but not as good as the meridian transport. Also I will admit to wondering if a clock mod would be of any value?. I recall reading in a Hi Fi mag that said something like a £300 CD player with a £150 clock sounded like a £500 player ? So some of the hype put forward by some company's marketing these clocks suggesting that your ordinary player can be transformed into a £1500 one should be treated with a pinch of salt. The MF 308 that you have I am sure would benefit from the Trivista Dac. But make sure you budget for a decent digital interconnect. I know a lot of people suggest that cables are not worth spending lot of your hard earned on but try a few if you can see any improvements or should I say hear.
