pinkfloyd ... have you removed some posts ? plus the title has changed again Yes, I didn't think it appropriate what I posted about Sean after learning that he passed away... it was a self edit. I shouldn't have changed the title either Nick, just thought that "John Linsley Hood" was more of a crowd puller than "Chiara"........ What was the original title again? I'll change it back.

Soldering irons at dawn.....ow-we-ow-we-owwwww, wah wah, wahhhh.... I love all this ... wait to you see my wonderful creation .. 2 pork pies coming my way I think Yeh, two stale ones being thrown at you I will win the premium pork pies, no doubt about that. The "enclosure" doesn't play a part in this James..... it's all about what's done on the board, under the board, to the board etc. etc. fair enough? Your enclosure is superb, very well executed and just what the Doctor ordered BUT the pork pies will be awarded to the guy who builds the best sounding amp..... very early days but we can arrange an impartial listening panel / Jury / wild mob with pitched forks etc. to decide the outcome I took delivery of 3,000 Panasonic FR series / 35V / 1500uF on Wednesday and not ONE of them will appear in the JLH Chiara....... I think that's enough to tell you what I AM carrying in my armoury and your kit bag will look very lean / cheapskate when it comes down to populating the board. I can almost taste those pies in my mouth Bring it on! All the best, Pinkie.

[Takes a swig of Gaviscon] in anticipation of a free pie [/ends Gaviscon]
You just can't beat a pie with Gaviscon.... the classic combination.....
There's even a song about it:
The Galveston is great for breaking wind.

Erm....... not so funny when you have to send TWO "special delivery" pies to me Nick Without giving too much away (at this juncture) Adrian and "I" will be addressing the "mains cable" wiring with something a bit more exotic (for starters)....... Same goes for the resistors and capacitors I'm afraid...... You are about to be "ass" whipped sir..... hand those pies over now and admit you're a coward! I'll start the build as soon as your boards arrive. The last laugh will be on you Mike.

Hello Have the packages arrived .... ?? Hi Nick, Arrived this afternoon, many thanks. I had forgotten just how limited you are with these boards, with regard to fitting "large" capacitors etc, but it will be good fun putting it together

This is going to be a time consuming build Nick..... had a good root around in the workshop and, YES, I've got a box of 500 X TIP41C so will (hopefully) manage to match up a perfect quad out of that using my trusty little Peak Atlas DCA tester..... 4 x matched for hFE....... That has to be a good starter to avoid a butt naked nettle whipping I'm going with a combo of carbon composite resistors and non inductive types which will (should) bring the best musicality out of the amp. The capacitors are a secret, for the time being, as is the solder and preferred choice of cable....... one little clue for you, the cable will NOT be the type that is attached to a domestic kettle There's not much to this really, it's a relatively simple amp to build but you reckon you have some secret "twist" that will improve things (apart from your mains cable mod)....... time to start talking mate. On a serious note....... I've got quite a few of the Rock Grotto JLH ripple eater boards here, I'm more than happy to send you a couple for free to try out with the Chiara...... let me know. All the best, Mike.

Mike, This reminds me a little of some of your outside shots from your gaff, are you celebrating ahead of the game Are you inferring that my "gaff" looks like some Chavvy "high rise" 1960's type "ZONE" where people eat "on the move" and leave pork pies on benches? That image reminded you of my back garden? I really MUST employ a gardener
