I've used an upgraded X-CAN & Little Pinky or quite a few years now, connected to my Mac through an V-DAC and listening through my Grado RS2 headphones. I completed the upgrades myself!
Just to give you a breakdown.
For a while now I've had a slight hiss in the left channel when nothing in playing, but ignored it as it's not audible when playing music. The hiss is louder in the left channel as I increase the volume.
I today I opened up the X-CAN and and looked for anything obvious, and then proceeded to re-solder all the components hoping it would solve the issue.
But the hiss is still present, though I'm still blown away by the sound :-) always brings on a big grin.
I know it's very difficult to expect an exact solution but any ideas?
Ah! My Grado headphones are working perfectly when connected to my Naim set-up, and I sent then back to NYC last year for refurbishment.

If it does, I recommend ordering some well matched NOS tubes from Mike.

Ok, so it looks like I need some new tubes.
