I've got three X-CAN V2 amps which I am going to fully mod and sell. As well as the usual mods I thought I would change the stock aluminium noise nulling screen to a pure copper noise nulling screen. Not having any "noise nulling screens" to hand I had to buy some sheet copper and make my own. A hacksaw, a file, a T-Square, a drill, a drill bit, a few grades of paper and some copper polish later I can now present the first ever "pinkie made" copper noise nulling screen
It took me about an hour to make the bloody thing and I'm damned sure I won't ever get a degree in "hacksaw skills" and will certainly never get into the "punch one out in a second by machine" fraternity...... these few amps I propose to sell (with copper noise nulling screens) are strictly limited to "three" because "hacksawing" is not something I wish to add to my portfolio A lot of time involved and there are very few people (apart from hardcore Japanese collectors) who would be prepared to pay £20 for a "hand made" pure copper noise nulling screen.
It certainly does lower the noise floor to an inky black silence, to my ears, BUT how inky black is inky black?
I urge all you V2 enthusiasts to make your own. Get hold of some 1.2mm sheet copper and have some hacksaw fun..... it has to be 1.2mm sheet copper, that is the same as the 1.2mm stock aluminium noise nulling screen that is fitted as stock..... if you go thicker then the DC socket, quad phono socket etc. won't be a perfect fit on the back plate.
Here is the stock Alu screen in situ:

All the best,
