So I finally got myself a proper soldering station, a proper solder sucker and some new solder. Cleaned up the cap solders and what not and redid them all and WOW.
Noise floor dropped quite a bit and the transition in sound is very smooth. "silky" as Mike would describes the cap mod kit. Bass response is much better and energetic.
I figured I'd get better performance from cleaning up my noobie soldering work but dang. haha.

Nicely done! Always worth checking through soldering work when problems arise.

Yeah! Very very much enjoying it even more! At the time when I had done the cap replacements and such, I hadn't done soldering in a while and was pretty much noob level. And a cheap $10 iron (which now that I think about, trying to melt laad-free solder took forever). Sound is clean, sound stage is crisp and not very fatiguing. Brings a whole new level of energy to my headphones. Quite pleased. Also redid the solders on the pot as I had a loose connection at some point and the damn thing was cutting out all the time haha.
