Hi folks,
Looking for a little advice..
What started with adding an x-cans v2 to a 30 year old system has turned into a bit of an x series obsession. I've now replaced my entire system with x-series components (x-ray,x-10d,x-psu,x-cansv2,x-p100,x-a100,x-a50 (x2). Needless to say both x-cans and x-10d are RockGrotto'd.
Anyway, I recently added what seems to have been the Higgs Bosan of x-series components to my system; that being an x-tone.
It's plumbed in between an x-p100 preamp and x-a100 power. Main concern is there is an almighty thump through the speakers when switching on or off. This occurs even if the volume is at zero.
On top of that the switches on the x-tone seem quite noisy especially the treble. Flicking between off, 5, 10 and 15 all cause a little bit of crackle. The bass switch, though not perfect, is also noisy.
So I guess the questions are...
What's causing the speaker thump at off and on? Is it normal or highlighting a problem?
Should I replace the switches and if so what with?
I've opened the x-tone up and it all looks fine. The original idea was to clean the switches but they are sealed. In fact they look the same as the x-pre ones.
The unit works fine once powered up.
Appreciate any comments.
