I am addicted to Chill/Acid Jazz/Ambient/Lounge music, i.e., Johnny Blue, Whipped Cream, Tosca, etc. Not a big fan of dance/house music, but St. Germaine falls somewhat into the Acid Jazz area.
So, with those preconditions, I listen to these internet streaming radio stations most of all:
Buzz-out-room (Primo music choices)
Hirschmilch (From Hamburg)
Chilkyway.net (Choose one of their channels)
divbyzero/de (Always surprises with innovative artists)
Flaresound
Psychedelic Radio Stream by Rupsy.ru (Russian)
Edm1.fm Chillzone (their chill-out station)
Okay, one more, Chilltrax (almost excellent all the time)
These stations broadcast at anywhere from 128kbps to 320kbps (Hirschmilch), and I still use my old trusty Winamp player...which has new ownership and hopefully will be back with updates soon...but, one can use Foobar or Win Media Player.
"Radio.pervii" is a clearing house site for a ton of internet streaming radio and also lists country of origin, broadcast speed, and genres (ALL sorts of genres) etc., as is "Shoutcast" that is/was a link to Winamp, but offers Mac and Win Media Player, too.
"Soundcloud" has Johnny Blue's 2 hours+ titles to listen to with their own on site player.
So, welcome to internet streaming music...What's your choices?

I only use one!
Radio Paradise, mostly easy listening, many artists I've never heard of plus plenty I have and ocassionaly one I turn up the volume for. Good for background music with none of that Record-Company-production-line projectile vomit that spues out of many stations.

I was waiting to hear from you CJ...How's it been with you?
Right at this moment Psyradio is playing a tune from the band/group Eat Static "The Tenth Planet". This Psyradio connection is from the website Radio.Pervii.com, from which there are literally hundreds of on line streaming radio stations listed. I'm listening to their on site player streaming at 128Kb at 44.1Khz from my laptop and sent to my Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround Pro USB DAC out to a nice stereo set up and sounds great! Creative Labs still has some great sound shaping software with their low priced hardware. A great best buy!
Super stuff....J

CJ....Most of my energy now is centered around building up my physical well being after many years of arrhythmias and some other stuff. So, losing weight, new diet, power walking around the lakes I live near...gettin' my shite together.
I thought I'd start this thread because I've been listening to composers of the 21st Century that notate and compose their music in the digital domain. I am privy to modern day, dare I say just for congruency, Mozart's, Beethoven's, Bach's, etc. Some of these composer/musicians are writing some of the most complex, beautiful, deep...add any description music I've heard. And with some of the gear I have here to bring this music into my home....I'm flabbergasted. So, I hope some visitors/members will adds some more info and/or comment here.
Glad RG is still here and you as well CJ....John

I must admit to being completely ignorant to the cream of modern composers! The most modern I have any knowledge of being Vaughan Williams and Aaron Copeland Care to enlighten us infidels on some of the stand out composers? Could be an interesting journey...

I may have over stated the talent of the new composers but I chose the word "congruency" carefully as a relational comparison "as like" usage, i.e., the supreme Classical composers of their day to compare "congruently" to the modern (21st Century) digital composers. Congruent being a term learned in Geometry studies...close to "as like", not directly matching, as it were.
Vaughn-Williams, Copland, Barber, and my fav of the time, Edward Elgar (who lost all composing energy after wife died...so sad), are as far apart from today's digital composers as are the Bach's, Mozart's and Beethoven's. I am finding artist/composers like Johnny Blue, a Cypriot, I believe, to utilize folk music of a cultural area in the melodies chosen, not unlike Bela Bartok or Dvorak. But, I am still very much a novice listener to today's digital music creators and am not a good resource for the names of such.
The one streaming music channel listed above that is garnering most of my attention these days is "divbyzero/de", which can be listened to at their website utilizing their own on-site player or via their link to the Winamp player if you have one.
Chill or Ambient or Lounge have natural connotations to a relaxing type of genre/sound, which is mostly true, but within those categories are nowadays found some unbelievable rhythm mixes and crazy good ambient effects. Some of these composers are just putting together mind blowing (to me) creations. What a wonderful amazing find for a music lover in his twilight years to come upon. And, for the most part, it's all free...at least while the money vultures are still kept at bay from the internet. Grrrrrrrrrr.....
Explore, discover, listen, enjoy, get blown away....WOW! And as I continue to do so and when some other, more well informed member/visitor visits this thread and decides to comment, maybe more detailed info will be forthcoming...I sincerely hope so. J
