Hi all,
I've been replacing some capacitors on the X-Can V3 but used a different desoldering braid which was useless and ended up just ploughing on and have lifted some of the solder pads. Would the simple solution be to scrape back some of the solder mask and solder the capacitors legs to the copper or, not being much of a solderer obviously, just get it seen to?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance
Cheers

Thanks for any suggestions in advance Cheers Some desoldering braid is bloody awful. I use Gootwick from Japan for that reason. I would GENTLY scrape off the lacquer on the copper near the mounting holes for 6mm or so if possible, and apply a covering of leaded solder to the tracks . Fit the capacitors in their holes , and cut them short to around 6mm, then bend them flat across the freshly soldered areas, and solder the leads. If you don't feel too confident, then perhaps you should send it to Mike in Scotland for repairs ? Regards Alex

Hi sandyk,
Thanks for the advice. I don't have anything to practise on but it's good to know the technique for future reference. I'll send it to Mike, have pm-ed him
