Quite simply, there are not enough people posting content. There is plenty of superb content here in the archives and it seems that new members are joining and "reading" but very few are actually writing anything. It doesn't have to be an essay, it doesn't have to be about audio but "anything" would be nice to see.... tell us about where you are, what you do, what your likes and dislikes are etc.
I won't try to hide the fact that the forum has gone through a bit of a stormy time these past few months. A few long standing members have left, there have been some disagreements but that is "life", nothing remains constant and all things must pass / progress. I am sorry that these valued members decided to leave but it was their decision and I have to respect that decision.
The good news is that there is now a calm after the storm. The fantastic infrastructure of the forum is still intact, it's very highly ranked in a Google search, it's packed full of superb content dating back ten years and it is in a transitionary phase looking for a new generation of members, with new ideas and input, to take it to a new dimension.
I would urge anybody who is an existing member, and all of you who are new members to get posting.... let's get this show back on the road with some fresh blood.
All the best,
Mike.

Well, I don't mind posting. But I am more involved on AoS. I have had some terrible experiences on several forums after my identity became known and I then got bombarded with request for membership fees etc. That's the problem with running a business that is audio related, and being a member on an audio forum.

I am still active in HiFi - but the goal has changed past time. I am active as headphone tester - I tested AKG K712 and now K812. The most postings I made in Hed.Fi.org and some german language HiFi (headphone) forums. Mike, please let RockGrotto active - my project, the ClassA HA rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/3977/ak-classa-ha-preamplifier is not build till today And must read the ClassA 15 W tread too rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/7461/ak-mods-class-15w-amplifierI am a RockGrotto fan and post a link to here (and some RockGrotto projects) if it seasonable (in german forums too). PS: I copy some hints into a extra sheet of my Excel BOM - so I cannot forget it.

Hi Mike, don't know if you remember me, but I sent you a Grado RA1 headphone amp to fix the on/off button, you took it apart and posted your findings on the innards and you got BANNED :-) :-)
Well, since then I've unfortunately lost most of the hearing on my right side and much of my kit has been packed away in storage. Loved music all my life and an accident has robbed me of it now.
Just recently sold my Heed CanAmp which made me sad. Also ditching my Shure e4c earbuds.
Have just pulled my Moon Audio recabled Black Dragon Grado GS-1000 headphones out of storage with a view to selling them on eBay. Also have the very same Grado RA1 which I will be looking to move on to a good home.
How much do you reckon the headphones would be worth these days?

I changed my setup a bit and sold the Xcans which were the reason to start browsing here. I do miss them but they weren't practical for my new setup. Mostly use my Denons while on the computer and have a Cambridge Audio XS thingy for that. They sound fine but not great as the Xcans did. Regardless I like this forum, it has something special so I like to snoop around so now and then.
Sorry to hear that there were some disagreements. I must be hard to see friends leave.

How could I ever forget that nasty little opamp in a wooden box I'm sorry to hear about your hearing loss, is it permanent? I'm not too sure on the going rate of the headphones but the provenance with your RA1 amp is priceless..... if you ever want to sell it then please give me first refusal..... I would love to smash the fekk out of it with a hammer All the best, Mike.

It must be hard to see friends leave. True friends are there for life, they don't leave..... no sadness at all. A bit of regret maybe but certainly not sadness. Times like these show you who your true friends really are. Mike.

Hey all, Just got my headphones out again after having another child (should have learnt the first time!) looking forward to getting listening again and chatting on here. Andy "Another" child? How many do you have? I think that everybody on the planet should be limited to only "one" child per household.... that is enough for any man to have to endure. Welcome "back" to the forum..... maybe spend less time in bed and more time listening to music, that will keep the population count in check Mike.

I don't know where you went to or why you were sent there but it's so good to see you looking so well..... they obviously looked after you and fed you your five a day. I look forward to you getting stuck in again. All the best, Mike.

Hi all, haven't logged for ages. Life took some weird turns and I found myself divorced, in a different job and now starting a whole new life/business with a new partner. My Jaycar amp is still in a box in storage and I've not had a soldering iron out for several years other than to fix some vehicle electrics. I'll try and stop by occasionally and, who knows, maybe next year I'll try to build something new.

Hi all. I've often browsed the forum but have never been that active. To keep family and neighbours happy almost all of my listening is with headphones and the forum has been a great source for advice, plus the panda mike built for me has been excellent!
Looking forward to getting a little more stuck in

It's not 100% lost on that side - I can still enjoy music presented to me from a traditional hifi as the left/right makes it to my good ear so I get all the sounds and as such have focused more on car audio now, but headphone presentation is ruined for me now due to the nature of the presentation. LOL, yep the RA1 is destined for sale, so if you seriously want first dibs then let me know - as long as you video when the box meets the hammer.

Hi Mike/ all, It's been a while I know, I've not forgotten about the grotto but unfortunately with young kids and other commitments I just don't have anywhere near the time I would like thesedays to sit down, relax and listen to music, the only musical enjoyment I get at the moment is out of a car stereo! I've still got the kit and won't sell it, hopefully in a few years when the kids are a bit less demanding I'll have time to put on a set of headphones of an evening and relax!
All the best, Paul

Hi Mick, long time since my last post, but things change... My 2 kids keeps most of my free time :-) and now all my equipment is reduced to an Ipod a portable amp... Also, due to the "40s post depresion" :-) I am trying different hobbies, as homebrewing and back to negative photography....
But is nice to check this forum time to time :-)

Prompted by your email Mike I am back again. I couldn't force myself to sell my kit especially that lovely Samwha'd x-can V1 you built for me.
Looking forward to some active chat - especially I am afraid on how to integrate the android phones we all seem to have these days with my various headphone amps.

(...) no sadness at all. A bit of regret maybe but certainly not sadness. (...) Depends. For example, every time I pop in here, I'm always also reminded of the good old Rickmeister: Fond memories - but I'd have to lie, if I'd claim, that these wouldn't involve some sadness. However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy about "some more life" on Rock Grotto, too. Greetings from Munich! Manfred / lini

It has been a while since I used my headphones, I stare at the amps, but since I moved after a breakup I listen through speakers most of the time. And I also got back into playing guitar :-) If only I could fix my tube amp!
