You won`t belive what I stumbled on today. I got 5x NOS Siemens E88CC with grey plate & gold pins... eBay? no. Upscaleaudio or other known tube shop? no.
I stepped into one old local electronic-antiques-used-staff cellar shop, asked if they have some old radio tubes laying around and quess what, there they were, after few moments, standing front of my face on the table (along with the Tungsram ECC85)... my jaw dropped (didn`t show that expression to seller). I asked how much per tube, he asked how much you offer... said "eeemh, about 4-6€ per tube ok?"... ok! And my jaw dropped onto floor.
LOL. 5x Siemens E88CC gold pin grey plate for 32€ straight into my hands? Unbeliveable!
Here are pics of them:
They all have 4 seams on top glass, molded ring and number inside glass between pins.
They all have factory codes between pins that are printed in same color/way as tube "logo" and they all say GØ 1≠ 6A but actual etched codes on tube glass side are different:
Etched codes are following:
2 tubes:
GØ
1≠
5L
2 tubes:
EØ (not sure, might be also F)
1≠
6A
1 tube:
GØ
1≠
6A
No idea why there are extra printed codes between pins. Maybe relabeled or something. Anyway, did some research and they should be totally legit E88CC`s. I think they should be those according to construction and sound description: www.tubemuseum.org/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SH-E88CC+PVT.STOCK . Not sure though.
Can anyone help me to figure out those factory code meanings? All I could find about date codes was that GØ should mean E188CC, 1≠ should mean early 60`s production and 6A/5L should mean something about year and month?
Would appreciate if someone could decipher those codes. Thanks in advance and sorry if I posted this question in wrong thread!
