HMV always treat me very well and I got my mits on this tiny little bluetooth speaker. They come in all kinds of lovely colours so the wife would like them planted around the place.
Looking at it is underwhelming. It's pretty with an upwards facing speaker and a rubber bass that kind of sticks it to the table or whatever surface you're going to put it on. ie. it doesn't slip around.
It comes in a jam jar!! Good for storing it away.
Usb charged, so I use a wall socket type.
Anyway, it's not the sound that grabbed my attention but it's range.
The sound for a small speaker is fine for podcasts/speech and it's reasonable to hear music considering it has a tiny speaker like a tranny. It goes pretty loud too. The whole of its case kind of vibrates when the volume is up so I guess bass can be helped by planting it on a box of some kind!!
The range is really quite good. It's quoted as 10 metres (as all bluetooth devices say) but the reality of a lot of these devices is that the quoted range is nowhere near. Then if you speak to anyone about it, they say things about walls etc.
I live in quite an old property with thick walls and I can take the speaker outside with the transmitting device inside. I can take it into the bathroom and have music without taking an expensive Ipod or Kindle Fire in there.
It's really sensitive and that's where its strength lies. Many of these devices are deaf and work for a very very short range that is nowhere near 10 metres.
This one works and I can wander all over the house with my mini speaker playing music and the sound isn't actually too bad at all.
It sticks to the signal like glue so imo, it's actually a good buy. I can also wander upstairs with it in my hand and it doesn't cut off once. The others do.
