They certainly make a fashion statement if you're sad enough to buy them. That, if technically correct, is the really scary bit

That, if technically correct, is the really scary bit Indeed and of course the sheep will be queuing up around the block to get the things because they are Sony and Simon Cowell has put his name to them. I'm glad I've always been a function over form man, although the form of these things is bordering on tacky

Indeed and of course the sheep will be queuing up around the block to get the things because they are Sony... Strangely, since my stint with Sony many moons ago, I went right off them, read as heavily jaded by their attitude and practices. No longer the pioneering, cutting edge company they once were. Except for one VERY old TV there is no Sony in my house and probably never will be.

Do not underestimate the Sony Discman: a portable CD-player with real line out, tone controls and a decent headphone out and economical with batteries.
Those oldies are worth having as a back up when your expensive HiFi set-up fails...

They'll do anything now to break into the market eh? Simon Cowell endorcing headphones ..... how does that make people buy them? Very strange.
I loved the Sony Discman as well. It sounded pretty good actually. I then went on to one of those Sony Minidisc players but the sound (to me) was quite a bit more congested.

Hi Ian and Funk1969 I am not surprised you liked the Sony Discman. It was 16/44.1 with anti-shock memory to assist when jogging etc. , and didn't use MP3 or other data reducing schemes. Kind Regards Alex

I have an old D-33. It doesn't accept an adaptor anymore but on full batteries it plays for at least six to eight hours.
Quite amusing how you start with something disgusting and end up with something worth mentioning.

Memory foam in the ear pads. Interesting. If memory foam works then I going to wait for the "Katy Price" version with even more padding.
