I am new to this forum and I am looking for advice in choosing a tube headphone amp. I have owned Sennheiser 600s for about a year. I've been using an old Nad 7140 receiver and an old Rotel 855 Receiver. I would like to try a tube headphone amp if it will be an improvement over the Nad or Rotel receivers. I see Little dot mk3s on ebay for around $200.00 plus shipping and customs duty. Is this the best option at this price point. I'm interested in great sound without the problems that folks have had with Bravo products. I'm not really interested in tinkering too much- just listening. If I have to upgrade the tubes then I will. I enjoy slow blues guitar (pink floyd, roy buchanan, peter green, danny gatton, derek trucks). Thanks for any advice you can offer. paul

I would try to get a Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 at eBay ($140 - $170) or similar outlet. Then I would ship it to Mike (PinkFloyd) to have him mod it, result a superb sounding amp. If you can not find a V2 then an X-Can V3 would be my next choice but it will be more money.

Good advice from Miguel above.
Also worth a mention is the Sunrise Amp featured on this forum, can be purchased ready made, or in kit form which is cheaper and very easy to put together, if your reasonably proficient with a soldering iron.
I have both the Mikes modded V3 and the Sunrise, and both are first class.

Thanks folks. I was able to find a lightly used MF x-can v3 here in Canada for $220 plus postage. I'm trying to close this deal today. We have a pretty good forum here in Canada www.canuckaudiomart.comI'm sure with a little research I can get some modding done here in Canada as well. Shipping overseas can be expensive and customs can add extra costs and delays I appreciate your help...paul

Oldblue (or anyone looking for a very good HP amp that doesn't go for 'silly money' might want to take a look here: - www.custom-hifi-cables.co.uk/home/hifi-components/ha1-headphone-amplifierI am the proud and very satisfied owner of one and I cannot recommend it high enough. Like all similar items it does benefit from a good power supply (more moolah ) but believe me, it ain't bad with your bog standard off the shelf jobby. And Sean is a very nice and accommodating guy to deal with IMO, very helpful and responsive. Take a look. Dave.

Sure would layums,
Frans (solderdude) one of our resident electronic Guru`s, designed this Amp.
Trust me when i say this guy knows his stuff.
The kits are made up and supplied by Jeremy(Garage1217) his partner, who is based in America, lovely guy, very helpful and approachable.
Its a superb kit, very clear build instructions, all the parts are bagged in separate functional order, and beautifully presented.
I really enjoyed building mine, and i have VERY limited electronic knowledge.
Mick.

I hope to have a Sunrise before the end of the year, if my wallet gives me permission.
