C-L-C Filter for 2 x HDD/SSD/ DVD I am now using the filter in the photo, to filter SMPS supply to both my "C" and "G" HDDs, and there is a further small improvement in the SQ of rips done in Windows Safe Mode to a Corsair Voyager GT with Ready Boost, using an external JLH PSU. As the Operating System is being used while ripping CDs etc. the idea was to further reduce electrical noise from the "C" drive while ripping. I have previously had verification from Martin Colloms and others, that filters like this can also improve the SQ of CD/DVD-A rips when used in line with the SMPS to the Optical Drive Before anybody suggests that this is all BS, i would point out that SOtM SATA filters are also available for the same purpose. However, the SOtM SATA cards are unable to use large value electrolytics as I am doing here, as surface mount electros are not available in such large values of capacitance. This filter should be at least as effective as a SOtM PCI card . The filter was mounted on the lid of the smallest Jiffy box,(UB5) and although I used a PCB made using a Dalo pen, it is simple enough to have used point to pont wiring on a blank piece of PCB etc. Alex Uploaded with ImageShack.usAttachments:
