I love my 668B's and they get a lot of head time. However, that is in spite of the wing system rather than because of it. I found it to be uncomfortable after 45minutes or so and I was always adjusting them to get a better/comfier fit. So I bought Tim52's pair of 681's and replaced the 668B headband assembly with the 681 band. I also used a textile headband that Christian had sent me as a tester, as I much prefer Christian's headband over the stock band for the 681. Since Mick doesn't make the gorgeous aluminium rings anymore I spray-painted the red plastic rings silver but used one of Mick's Mk.1 end-caps that I had in my spares tin. One of my favourite headphones just got a whole lot more comfortable - Result

Nice one Jeff. They look good.
I have the 681's and love 'em. Great sound. I can't believe they sound so good for the price they can be bought for.
Surprising that the wings made it less comfortable.

Oh.... I've only got a little noggin. They are a real bargain headphones. I was disappointed with their recent closed headphones tbh but the 681 series and the one you have are excellent.

I'm still searching a new job. Maybe I should work for Superlux and make their headbands. Seriously, it's about time to do a new headband series, but exactly the time is still a problem (unbelievable for a jobless, but true). Someone is still waiting for a headband from me. The main problem is also the hammering that is needed. I can't do it at home since it would upset my neighbors. While I had my last job, I was allowed to use a workshop in the company for this purpose. At least, I'll probably start to solder at home soon. I have almost everything needed here and I had also a good soldering introduction at a computer club recently. I was able to repair a broken PSU inside a network switch under supervision of a very capable guy. What a feeling of success! It was a great moment for me. I hope that I can go to that computer club in two weeks again. Every second week, my washday is Tuesday and I can't go there. This week, I was out somewhere and I had also no possibility to join them. I'm already convinced that soldering at home won't be a real problem in my newly renovated apartment. But, certainly, I have to be careful. The good thing is that soldering makes no noise...

He hammers them onto his head to ensure a perfect fit.

I've used a hole punch first. But the used material is VERY strong and I've damaged almost my hand by pressing too much. I've changed then to a hammer and a hollow punch. It gives the better holes and I only have to care that my fingers are not between the hammer and the textile.
I've had also an idea to automate the process, but it would need specially made tools to do it and it would be for just one type of headband. In theory, a stamping die mould would be optimal. Maybe even one with heated parts that would seal the borders in one work step.
The hammering is really the main problem at the moment, but I have also the problem that I have a few other things going on at the moment (have a look at "saucerful" for more information). My main goal is still to get a new job though.
If Superlux offers me a job for making headbands, I'm sure it won't go to long until I make headbands again.
