Dudley's experience with Sony is exactly the same as mine. I won't ever buy Sony again.

actually it's a crap read that doesn't say anything for a long time then ends on a false statement.

I re-read it, but couldn't find where the false statement was.

I would never buy Sony after my experiences there and information gained during that time. To a much lesser degree, but during an overlapping period, I visited Panasonic as well and had nothing but praise for them.

I was referring to footnote 3, the last thing in the text, it's obviously false. There are dickheads in both camps but the single driver nuts insist on selling you a "full range" driver for "just" thousands of dollars, a driver that has more than 10% distortion and is non-linear. But it has something woody and natural about it.

Reminds me of the splendid Monty Python sketch where words and their pronunciation are judged on their woody or tinny qualities...

Here's an amazing statement from Orca - the speakers are only 7 lbs, but the stands are 20 lbs to add stability? "In order to allow for the most nuance and delicacy in tuning, the Orca speakers weigh only 7 pounds each. Many speaker stands seek to dampen vibrations, which is a dire necessity for speakers that sound bad, i.e. produce unwanted vibrations. In the case of the Orcas, they are all "Good Vibrations," so you'll only want more of them. The Orca Stands add just enough weight—20 pounds a pair—and solidly attach to the Orca's light cabinet, adding stability, a substantial benefit to their sound, and extra solidity to their bass production. Importantly, they maintain the Orca's pristine sonic image by not reflecting, and thereby smearing, the audible wave. The stands achieve all this while raising the Orcas up to the proper height to your ear."

So they're 27lbs floor standing speakers then ??.
Stands that do 'things' WHILST raising speakers to the proper height for your ear. How clever.
Presumably their first prototype forgot this basic requirement.

Presumably their first prototype forgot this basic requirement. Or, whilst testing the prototypes, they danced around the floor. So while one side said it adds rhythm, the other side said it might pull the cables out,,,,,

I would use an speaker like this as near-field so I would not be expecting a lot of bass thumps out of the pair.

Haha, 595$ for a small Fostex bookshelf ... about 400$'s worth of "Good Vibrations".
