Went to see Mark Lanegan on Friday and had a ball. Made a night of it and had a nice meal before hand and a few drinks after . . . Mark was on top form, his voice was excellent. The sound was pretty good and the bass, the bass was awesome Real kick in the guts stuff. I love it when you can feel the bass. The guitarist was dressed like a refugee from the 50’s complete with D.A. and rockabilly gear but he was excellent too. On one track the drummer used a normal stick in one hand but a maracas in the other and was using it to hit the drums (gently). Excellent gig . . .

Try this one Cheung from one of my favourite guitarists Tony McPhee. This is from the Groundhogs album (Blues Obituary).

This is from the Groundhogs album (Blues Obituary). Musically, I like it. Is the whole album well recorded or more like older Deep Purple recording std (1970). If good, I will buy one copy. Yeah, have the vinyl version too.

Yeah the album is recorded well - whether you like the music is a different matter?

Yeah the album is recorded well - whether you like the music is a different matter? Er, I mean good hifi sound and not loudness war alone.

I really liked his song that was used for the end credits of the game Rage:

Anybody, like me, like Lanegan and Campbell's 'Ballad of the Broken Seas'? IMHO better than what they've done together since. Their voices are so very different but complement each other beautifully - and it provides a reasonable test of the resolution of your set up probably .

Not for me I'm afraid, I prefer another of his collaborations...
