Ok, ok, start throwing rotten eggs and tomatoes now! More "noise" over the air waves coming after she won 2 Brit awards for the Best Album of The Year and Best Female Vocal. But please, don't go to drugs overdose or abuse! Tear your hairs out is ok as since most will have thinning hair here. Read all about it here.

Just shows what crap is entered into the "Brit awards" if that screeching cow won an award... sad times indeed.

Mike, sitting on the fence does you no credit - why don't you tell us what you really think? . Dave.

Fun fact: Ed Sheeran (the other relatively big Brit winner) went to my high school. Can't say that I like his music much, though. Or Adele's for that matter; the music and lyrics are good but her voice just grates on me.

Frans can design a filter for you.
I think that headphone amps need a multiband parametric equalizer to get the most out of the recordings and hardware.
Except for appreciable measures of noise and distortion, I feel that most audible problems are in the frequency domain.

Agreed Robin, but to some 'audiophiles' equalizer seems to be a dirty word, Jeff Edit :- How expensive would it be to engineer in a parametric or semi-parametric equalizer to a HA?? Prohibitively so?

It would depend on how many stages/ranges one would like. In parts (good quality) it would probably amount to 200 to 300 Euros. Also it will be extremely difficult to set correctly without graphs or measurements. I built one (and used for for 10 years) with 'only' 3 tunable center-frequencies / bandwidths and levels in dual mono construction. I had some standing waves in a listening room I wasn't able to get rid of by usual means. Curtains, foam, resonance boxes so ultimately did it the electronic way. Worked very well, now I moved and it has been decommissioned until called upon once more. a similar device could be built in an amp but would be hard to operate easily when more than one headphone needs to be parametrically equalized. easiest would be in software. I happen to Like Adele b.t.w. It's personal, others may not. Just like equalizers...

It is possible to equalize a headphone very 'flat'. With a lot of headphones, however, the bands to be adressed are asymmetric in bandwidth. Also resonances, ringing and overshoot, partial brake-up patterns in 'normal' drivers, cup resonances e.t.c. will still color the sound. IMO most ideal is a headphone that in itself is electro-mechanically behaving very well (ortho's, and some of the better headphones) that don't need to be 'flat' in frequency response but do perform well mechanically (little ringing/overshoot/resonances/break-up) and equalize them not to be 'flat' but pleasant to the hearing of the person listening to it in case it is felt needed.
Adele still sounds good to me... best artist ? no, not to me.
