Top Stories Pay for our trips home, says Islamic group Feb 13, 2012 5:03am NEW migrants should get taxpayer subsidies to visit overseas relatives, an Islamic group has told the Federal Government. The Islamic Women's Welfare Association also says Muslims prefer to live close to their own people and Australia should consider how to "facilitate the purchase of homes for new migrants". In a submission to a federal multicultural inquiry, the association has urged the Government to give tax deductions to newly arrived migrants so they can visit relatives in their homelands. "Migrants face a lot of sacrifices such as having to travel long distances to visit relatives, spending on communication costs, missing out on some events occurring in native countries etc," the submission said. "This loss should be compensated by the Government in one way or the other to retain migrants in their country of adoption." Victorian Muslim and president of the Australian Council of Bosnian Organisations Senada Softic-Telalovic said while some help might be justified for needy refugees who had to go overseas to settle their affairs, she didn't support travel compensation for all newcomers. That type of argument will bring out further outrage from those who are so anti-migrant and so anti-multiculturalism," she said. Ms Softic-Telalovic said that Australia was seen as an ideal migration destination and new arrivals shouldn't take the country for granted. "Migrants and refugees who come out now are in a significantly better position and you could say a more privileged position than those who came out in the 1970s," she said. Victorian Multicultural and Citizenship Minister Nick Kotsiras said tax breaks for migrant trips abroad was a ridiculous idea. "We are all equal and no one should get special privileges," he said. The Islamic welfare association is based in Lakemba, Sydney, which has one of the highest Muslim populations in Australia. Its submission also said that migrants should be free to build their own places of worship "without prejudice or discrimination from the communities they live (in)". Attachments:

Is it possible not to be in favour of this without being accused of being racist?

Is it possible not to be in favour of this without being accused of being racist? Apparantly not. You are free to "think" your thoughts but not free to express them.... democratic dictatorship etc. (free to elect a dictator of your choice)..... World's gone mad.

Hear Hear Miguel! I second your sentiments. The media totally neglect the fact that the goal of Rdical Islam is to force the entire world to embrace Islam & Sharia Law.
Here in the States we have been fed the LIE that Islam is a peaceful religion; oh really, it is the only major religion that advocates forcing people to convert, subject them as third class citizens or killing them, there are 19 verses in the koraan advocating murdering non believers. That is the truth about the religion of Islam.
I fully recognize there are many peace loving muslims & do not bear them any ill will; it is the radical jihadists that are dangerous & must be stopped.

Is it possible not to be in favour of this without being accused of being racist? Does that mean i can`t say f"ck off back to where you come from, if where you have now chosen to live doesn` fit your requirements. Why doesn`t it surprise me!!, these people make me sick, its all take, take and take more, and give absolutely f"ck all, much like here really.(meaning this country which is rapidly becoming a s""t hole) Politically correct, no, the truth yes. Mick.

Mick. x2 apart from the "like here" bit.... There are a lot of "givers" here Mick (as well as a lot of takers)... lot of givers and takers everywhere (as it goes).... what pisses me off are these people who say they are "entitled" to benefit... I pay tax, you pay tax and these f+++++s are "entitled" to live the life of Riley on the proceeds of our hard work?? I don't mind (and actually want to) help the guy who has fallen on hard times but these sorts who make a career from handouts really sicken me.... when it gets to the point that they are "quoting" their entitlement to benefits it's time to shoot them.... the sad thing is, it's not the hard working ethnic migrants we should be pointing the finger at... it's the lazy "indigenous" wasters who are abusing the "system".....

Mike, by "here", I'm sure Mick meant 'here in the U.K.' not here at RG As you say there are loads of people here in the U.K. who all seem to know their "rights" much better than you or I, and are able to milk the system because they know it inside out. Including many ethnic minorities who when you try to speak to them don't seem to know much English but by crikey they can fill out a benefits form O.K. Jeff

Keeping strictly to the Muslim extremists, whingers and I-wants; If Christian westerners went to a Muslim country and made the same demands there, churches, women must be open faced, stuff your language, support us financially, etc, etc. and you must also do the same. They'd at best be laughed at or never seen again! Oh and BTW, Muhammad didn't exist nor the crusades beacuse it doesn't hang well with us. Infidel just means a guy who has sex with someone other than his wife...... Basically THEY have the right idea, our country = our ways. Don't like it? Bad luck! The west has dissappeard up its own butt. Maybe the Chinese will save the whole world when they take over economically Of course, that would also come at a price

If we could close the 'in door', I would pay to get them home. One way only.
Then again, Enoch Powell got his ass kicked for saying similar all those years back.

The link at the bottom of your link puts some sort of perspective into the story. As usual the PC 'jobs worth' brigade have taken action in a misguided attempt to justify their existence. IMHO the world is going to hell in a handcart - we need a physical revolution led by a return to common sense, sadly not so common these days. Dave.

I would say, make boats available for them to travel home with. There are some exciting economy models that solve many problems at the same time: Even better, have their relatives send them magic carpets. Oh, sorry. Ever since Persia became islamic Iran, carpets no longer work.......

oooooh that one has to burn. but yes, i see this "tax break" for imigrants to be... to put it bluntly as i always must, the kind of idea that only someone who thought they were important would have, it seems to me that the immigrant population of almost every country seems to think they are much much more important to the current resident and the government than they really are. america is trying to keep them from coming in unofficially (and untaxed) anymore, because we have enough imigrants already. and yes, many of them do infact make the country more diverse and more prosperous. but the ones that propose ideas such as this are everything but beneficial to the host country. many of them bring crime with them, though it is a small amount, i will say that the majority of imigrants, legal and illegal, are great people that come here to work. but the few that come here to cause trouble often do things that cast a dark shadow on the population of migrant workers. but i digress, the imigrants should be thankful for what they receive when they come to a new country, they should NOT have the audacity to ask a government that isn't theirs for more than they deserve.
