Picked up one of these from Richer Sounds in an open box for £20. Cant say I was really expecting much and wasn't over impressed until this morning, when I got round to removing the "tone" control/ and associated componants as suggested..What a difference! Mids and tops now open and quite enjoyable to listen to..it's going to be the bedroom setup, with a pair of 250 ohm DT770'S. I was wondering if anybody had a tip for reducing the bass output slightly though as it's a bit of a hooligan with these cans? My next plan is to replace the caps etc. so I really could do with researching suggestions soonish, before writing the shopping list. Thanks in hope..

The DT770s smooth out in the bass if you put a thick cardboard shim under the ear cushions to move your ears further away from the driver. 3mm is about right for my ears. The Btec was my first HA mod and I was very happy with the results. I tried a lot of different opamps, but ended up with the original 5532. It simply sounded best after a couple of months of messing around. www.rock-grotto.co.uk/B-tech.htm
