being a newby im shure your sick of answering the same questions im used to having music playing through my home cinima amp but just recently(with the help of the girlfiend watching reality shows) id like to buy a headpone amp so i can be selfish and lissen to music without causing hassel ive been looking and came accross here im interested in the m/f v2 xcans which seem to have a great following aswell as modding route also been looking at the Graham $lee novo (which is prob at the top of my budjet) now would i be better getting the x cans(dont seen to come up for sale as much as they used to do) and mod them as funds allow or just get the novo im using sennhieser hd580 headphones any help will be appreciated thanks tristan

Surely the biggest boost to headphone sales for years. What are you using as a source? Are you going to hook the amp up to a CD player, a PC or prehaps an MP3 player? And you do realise that you'll likely get as many different recommendations as there are members on this forum.

its going to be hooked up to a hdcd player (using a rotel at the moment) as for recomendations im open minded so every ones opinions will be taken on board

I have owned the Novo and the X-Cans, X-Can V2, and X-Can V3. My first choice would be the X-Can V2 followed by the X-Can V3. They would be even better if modded using the kits that Mike (PinkFloyd) sells. Good luck. Pd: If you are in the USA I have a fully modded X-Cans I would be willing to sell.

I've never heard any of the X-Cans, but given their popularity here and that fact that you'll be buying used, it's unlikely you'd better them by much if you bought something new for similar money. And if the fancy takes you, you could tweak to your hearts content with different valves, upgrade components and power supplies.

mrarroyo i would be very interested but sadly your a bit far away ive been reading quite a few posts for other hedphone amps and on ebay theres lots but sieving through the crap and finding an amp that give reliable service looks more like the m/f v2 is probs the best to go for because of the upgrade path thanks for you help il let you know how i get on
