Now sold Hi I have a pair of akg k240 df (600 ohm) headphones for sale I have replaced the foam around the drivers with new akg replacement foam I have replaced the elastics with new ones (akg) and put new name plates on them (comes with spare pair) Also i had to buy a replacement akg screw on 6.3mm jackplug cos when i bought them they came with a cheap plastic push on one that was not the original The earpads are still ok They are in excellent condition, and i am only selling them because i have too many headphones The sound quality is spot on and are the most neutral phones i have heard They only play whats given to them and dont wallpaper over the cracks like some headphones These are not the type for bass lovers as they dont emphasise anything It,s a case of shit in shit out with these as they will show the recording and your equipment for what it is They are also a bastard to drive, even harder than the k501 and k240 sextetts so you will need a good amp with loads of voltage swing for these or they will sound a bit lifeless I use an old sansui amp to drive all my dynamic phones, it can drive these no probelem, but if you have a cmoy or xcan and the likes then forget it as they will not drive these to the full I am looking for £75 with free p+p in the uk These are like rocking horse shit to get hold of now and i look on ebay and they dont seem to hardly come up for sale anymore www.akg.com/site/products/powerslave,id,253,pid,253,nodeid,2,_language,EN.html paddy

For the sole reason these are hard to find and so good for their purpose I have two of these.
If not here a few people on the other side are interested in the more interesting K240-series. When I put up half of my current headphone collection for sale I even got a PM for the DF while I clearly stated the DFs were keepers.
Good luck...

they sound nice with my X-CAN v2 amp, and so do the K-240 monitors, and the K-340, so don't worry too much about the "hard to drive" comment

will do, but what voltage is the Sansui putting out on the headphone socket ? I couldnt say for sure, but there is more than 220mv that would drive these headphones to ear bleeding levels The sansui au101 gives out 15w rms and i changed the resistors from the amp section to the HF socket 330 to 120 ohms Frans will have a better idea of the output than me I only use this amp for headphone use, and it can run all my headphones (32-600 ohm) paddy

Have you followed the K250 thread on the other side? Quite interesting but it still annoys me from here to Tokyo how many headphone uses underestimate amplifying the vintage AKGs. Just keep the DF. For me it was one of the reasons why the HD800 wasn't worth my money
