Hi all,
I've recently stumbled onto Gonzales (Jason Charles Beck) and simply can't get enough. This is some of the most refreshing, unique and elegant music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.
I find his work unique and non predictable - something that seems to be very hard to find these days.
Here is the opening track 'Gogol' from his album 'Solo Piano'.
Another from the same album 'Dot':
YouTube has many of pieces of his work if you're interested including a lot of live versions which tend to be quite different to his recorded works.
If anyone knows of similar work (ideally solo piano) I'd love to hear about it.
The only other work that come close (to me) is Nobuo Uamatsu's - Final Fantasy VI Piano Collections (especially 'The Mystic Forest') and some work by Philip Glass but even this is (to me) not in the same league.
I'm interested to hear what you classical lovers out there (any anyone else) think of Gonzales.
