Here are a few exchanges of e-mail between myself and a member of this forum. I won't disclose his name but guess you'll figure out who they are from:
Me: Hi *****,
Your cables should be with you by now?
A few forum rules:
Strictly NO posting about your mods that compete with my own mods featured on my website. I think that should have been common sense? I have built my site and reputation up over 6 years and will not allow unsolicited self promotion and advertising of audio products or services under my roof.
My advice would be to get a website up and do it the hard way like I had to do. Get a reputation by being good at what you do and do it off your own back, it's a lot more satisfying in the long run.
All the best.
Mike.

What are you talking about ?
"will not allow unsolicited self promotion"
How dare you say that............are you the complete ignoramous or what.
I would suggest that your very very careful what you write, I do not own, run, have or intend to have a bussiness basied on moding MF gear. I therefore can not be accused of self promotion.
Why not just ban me ? But then, as I've not done anything other than help people, your going to look the complete plonker.
I have only ever posted information on your site for the use of all the readers including yourself.
I hope then that the DIY section has been completely removed, or are you a hypocrite as well?
Why would I want to get up a website ? I'm only a hifi buff that thought your site offered the oppertunity pass on a little information and experience, seems I was wrong.
I also do not accept your reasoning ....your terrified that people will see how simple it is to mod there own gear rather than get you to do it for some vastly exagerated fee and do it themselves.
Please feel free to make more unfounded allegations ....I'll be delighted to proceed in a legal sense, especially as you have been so good as to put it down in black and white.
have a nice day
Me:
Terrified people will see how simple it is? I've had FREE TO VIEW step by step instructions on my website for the past "6" years and actually WELCOME people to do the mods. I have a problem with other people getting hold of them and then offering their own MODDING service off my back / via MY forum.
Proceed in a legal sense if you wish, you are banned from the forum so unless you come back you've got nothing to moan about.
End of.
Mike.

Me:
You are banned. I am perfectly entitled to ban you. Please don't email me again or you'll be hearing from "my" legal representative (sorry I don't have a "team"!)
Goodbye.

Well, not much to add to that except the letter I received from this chap which states:
"If you like those you're going to love my ag au RCA-RCA that many people have said nice things about, but they cost £135. I've not got a demo pair to hand at the moment people are having them faster than I can build them!"
So much for not being a business ;D (more than one or two constitutes being in "business" according to the Inland Revenue. A copy of the letter has been sent to the other moderators here.
So, I ask the guy not to post about his competing mods and not to get into self promotion of his products here and I am threatened with legal action and told to "please feel free to drop dead" ??
Sorry, I'm not threatened by that type of nonsense. The person is now banned and will remain banned. I think I'm quite entitled to politely ask someone "not" to promote products that are similar to mine on my own forum?? It's like me walking into semichem with a cartload of toiletries and selling them out of their shop premises, would that be fair and would I get away with it? I think not.
As to this man's ridiculous statement about me being frightened that people will see how easy the mods are, me charging extortionate prices and all the other nonsense he speaks I think it's quite plain to see the facts by simply looking at my website Extortionate? erm............... ;D
