Sandy,
When it becomes necessary to import content in from another forum it's a sure sign that something is up with this forum (where we can't provide enough good content) or someone is trying to draw attention to the other forum. With all respect if I wished to read the stuff at DIYaudio I'd be over there reading instead of typing this.... if I hadn't decided to get the hell out of Head-Fi I'd still be over there.... the last thing I want to see is the content of another forum being pasted in here, especially if that "content" could start a "forum war".
Your latest copy and paste is an interesting one, don't get me wrong, but I hope this isn't going to become a regular "look what they are saying over at DIYaudio" Sandyk special feature. If I want to visit DIYaudio I shall do so under my own steam. Forum hopping is cool but importing topics from other forums and publishing them verbatim is "lame" IMO.
This is a small place originally slapped together so I could chat to fellow X-Can users en masse. I'm not sure I like what it's turning into of late but am 100% certain it won't become an entry zone for lambs to the Head-Fi slaughter or a stepping stone to the ego wars on DIYaudio.

You're in no fit state to be listening to "music" on a public forum. Your car radio is a "mind blowing" experience where you are at the moment.... go and sober up or go and dance naked tooting your horn.

Mike That certainly wasn't the intention. The deleted thread was originally started as it was a scurrillous attack on a highly respected forum member. I pasted this last one because it was so way out, and I thought it may have got a laugh from some members,as well as a few interesting replies. Consider me reprimanded. Alex

dc and Merton I won't be posting anything further in this particular thread. I have cancelled my automatic subscription to the thread in DiYAudio. I originally only got involved after a fellow Rock Grotto member drew my attention the unfair attacks on Graham. In fact, other than my replies to that particular thread, I have been doing very little posting there due to the big egos, self promotion at the expense of others, snide remarks, and quite often, bitchiness. You guys are always at liberty to visit that other thread for yourselves, to see exactly what I am referring to. But I won't be participating in it any more. Alex
Rather than cause any further controversy, as pointed out by Admin, I have decided to delete the original post. My apologies to anyone from either of the forums who has already seen the deleted post, and taken offence. SandyK

I think that we could enjoy the benefits of both worlds. For external information of note, a link would suffice. If we can jump in and help a fellow grotter, it just needs to be coordinated - a senseless piling or pissing on just serves to discredit the cause. We can safely assume that most ignorambos do not participate or read sites that are critical of their person, so trashing them here is not really productive.

Sandy, This is a small place originally slapped together so I could chat to fellow X-Can users en masse. I'm not sure I like what it's turning into of late but am 100% certain it won't become an entry zone for lambs to the Head-Fi slaughter or a stepping stone to the ego wars on DIYaudio. Hear here! On the "not sure what it's turning into" it is certainly becoming a rather large virtual pub. As new people wander in, they certainly bring new ideas, cultures, and invariably the status quo shifts. This forum shifted recently, the focus on Graham's products did just that ! This may have somewhat changed the feel of the place - not good, nor bad BTW .. just changed! In a week or several there'll be a new focus of attention that will change things again! We'll seee where that takes us. The only vigilence that is needed is where the change in status quo is detrimental to the group as a whole ... forum wars or HeadFi finger pointing would be just such an example .. and well done for you firm foot stamp Mike!

As a noob poster on this forum I can say that the thing that attracted me to this forum rather than the others I have lurked in for several months is the friendlyness of the place. I did and still do visit other forums but I have no intention of posting there as many of the threads I have read turn into a slanging match mostly because people can't accept that someone should think differently to them. This place is, as sol says, like a virtual pub. A bit like your local when you walk in and a few of the regulars greet you and you feel immediately at home. Although there is a good smattering of humor and poking fun there is also a maturity to the posting here that is lacking in other forums. Arguments here are settled quickly and people appologise to each other and everything is forgotten. I can't imagine an argument here continuing for days or weeks as it has on other forums. In short. Whatever you're doing Mike it works, so keep it up

Why are you listening to your carpet? I am comparing the soud qualities of rayon versus polyester! Make sure you don't get friction burns on your nose or a massive static shock on one of your ears. I only listen to acoustically approved pure wool carpets, these synthetic carpets sound very compressed and uninvolving. Try upgrading to wool Miguel, you won't look back and you are guaranteed friction / static free listening.

So is this similar to carpet munching, or is that a different thing
