Nice one. Looks like I have some serious catching up to do. An avatar might be an idea too.

Thanks Guys Much appreciated. Mike forgot a few other words : opinionated, incomprehensible, etc Miguel You beat me to it ! But I don't believe that either of us were tring to create any milestones. Perhaps I would like valves sooner, if you let me borrow your speaker's amplifier ? Alex

An avatar might be an idea too. SandyK has been furnished with a personalised "in house" avatar..... it's sandy and has the letter K in it..... best I could come up with at this hour in the morning. It looks "deep" to me, there is a message in that sand somewhere.... it's Sandy with a K

Miguel A professed valve fanatic using a solid state amplifier ! Next you will be saying that you don't actually drive a real "Herbie" bug ? BTW, as good as the Adcom was back in 1985, solid state design has progressed considerably since then. The review was very light on technical detail too.Do you have a schematic ? Alex

Miguel Looks like it has quite a bit of upgrade potential, judging by that thread. Chris, the moderator (Anatech) used to do a lot of authorised repair work on those and other amplifiers. Alex

A thousand thank yous! If we consider the time and effort in each of the posts x 1000 we have quite an investment of time. Hope your job continues to give you that type of "free" time, you wouldn't dream of doing this off hours - or?

"I believe Alex is enjoying his retirement these days "
As much as I love my son and his family, I will be enjoying my retirement even more, when I have a less noisy house again ! It's almost enough to make me go to headphones for a while. I would need better isolation than my Sony headphones give, though ! Alex

Miguel My son would probably retaliate by turning up his stereo. It is amazing how much louder, and bloody annoying, a low power amplifier with high distortion sounds when at high volume , compared to a high power quality amplifier and speakers ! Alex
