Cheers Syd. I've followed suit. As you say, lets hope they're the real thing! EDIT= Syd, for the record most the UK guys get them from Rapid and I've sourced them from here before, in stock as of 5 mins ago.

My sets arrived today. The markings all look correct.
Syd
Just checked Rapid out of curiosity, they don't seem to list them now.
The other site does so I'll keep a note, thanks

Cricklewood Electronics also stock them, and postage is reasonable. I've always bought mine from there. 2sa19302sc5171

The ones I ordered like Juke have arrived. Likewise, seem genuine.

Alex, I also looked for the same things as you and spotted that 50pr qty later, I'm completely out 5171 and it has to be worth a go!

Did anyone order these? I got mine (50 pairs) today. Out of the bag they looked 'rough' but they look normal with a quick dust.
I checked the 1930s and 16 of them have HFE above 180, none are 200+. Didn't keep a note of the others but I'd guess over 10 were 170+ and over 10 160+, don't think I saw any below 150.
Toshiba DS quotes min. 100 max 320 and a dash at 'typical'.
So, I've no idea if that would be average for a batch. (Used the Atlas DCA55).
Syd
Just checked P40, Class A thread, Will quotes "If your output transistors (sa1930/sc5171, which should be similar values) are in the lower range of their gain (say below 200), then it helps if T9/T10 (327/337) are in the upper part of there range (between 250-400 for example) Don't get to hung up on this, it's just a guideline.
Conversely, I would guess that you can get away with lower hFE T9/T10 (160-250) if your Toshibas are in the higher range (200-320) At the middle point, use the force for guidance". So I guess they're nearly all useable?

Hi Syd Mine arrived on Friday. They appear genuine, and the couple I tested behaved the same as all the others I have tested when I changed transistor current test ranges. The few that I looked at had similar HFE to what you stated. Regards Alex P.S. Have you got a secret stash of JLH PCBs ?

Hi Alex
Its good to know they are similar to your current stock. I have no experience of the variance in HFE in a batch of components.
I suppose this is rather a lot, but I was thinking of matching and getting a few pairs of high HFE!

I got around to hfe testing.
Mostly in the 170 through to 190 range, with a few above 200 and a couple of rogue low ones.
Can't complain at that price!

Nice find on this seller, Chris.
I copied Syd and ordered 50 pairs (which landed today, very quick), and even though mine were more than the original links, 38p each is still a very good price.
Shouldn't need to buy any for a while now!
