The DAC is considered to be poor, which is a problem if you want to feed it digital from a computer. The standard price is £350. The alternatives would be something like one of the Chinese dac/headphone amps like Zero(£90), 01( £150 ebay), Yulong DAH1 Mark (£180 ebay), or the Beresford one.
You could get two boxes a £80-200 dac and a £80-200 headphone amp. The forthcoming Slee Novo will probably be very good.
There does seem to be a lot of reductions on Musical Fidelity XRay V8s, so you might find a seller with cheap X-Cans V8s.
A DIYer could put together a dac/headphone amp using the engineering boards for the cirrus CS8416CSZ/CS4397KSZ and Jaycar amp which would beat all the above, cost under £100 but in the modding of the dac require some skill.
