Hi All, OK, to raise some funds towards my move up the Stax ladder, I'm offering my SR-001 set for sale. I bought it used from an eBay seller for 186.80 Euros in Feb 2006. That's around £124 in those days or a bit more nowadays!!). Cheapest I've seen them online is around £155 plus postage (plus VAT) direct from a Japanese eBay seller. Condition is fair (energiser is a bit tired looking), but the cans are in good cosmetic condition. The silicone earpieces need replacing, and the cheapest I have seen them is around £19 from Audiocubes IIRC. This might spark a raging debate, but I find them a litte bass shy, but with a very detailed mid and top end. I'll send photos to any interested parties that PM me. I'm looking for £105, and that includes a fiver for delivery to the UK. Other places will need a recalc on the postage. These aren't boxed or with instructions, and you'll need a 3.5mm audio jack from your source. What am I looking to buy? Some Lambda Signatures to go with my NOS SRD-6SB transformer (and driven by a SC Class A? Who knows!!). As Xmas is fast approaching, I might just hang on in there and flog the SRD-6 off too, to go towards a pair of 404 Signatures!! Cheers Jon

Jon Why don't you wait until you have fully completed the SC HA with JLH, before deciding to go further along the STAX road. Most affordable STAX headphohnes appear to be around 2dB down below about 150 HZ. The performance of the SC HA and my Sony headphones embarrassed my friend Geoff when compared with his earlier Stax headphones,as well as the headphones that came with the STAX SRM313 driver.Even that delineation of the female voice, that STAX is renowned for, was there too, as well as a FAR better bottom end. On the strength of that ,Geoff purchased 2 lots of Jaycar kits and etched a couple of JLH, as well as hunting around for similar Sony headphones. Unfortunately, the stubborn critter has since lapsed back into a typical rabid STAX person, and not completed the SC HA kits. I think I may need to take the SC HA and Sony headphones down to his place again ! Alex

Hi Alex,
Some sound advice there - thanks! I wasn't going to get anywhere near the cash pot required for quite a few months, so I will have the SC up and running first. I'll keep an open mind - I was really surprised by an iPod shuffle and ony Sony Fontopia MDR-EX71SL earbuds recently.
Cheers

Here's a bump, and a price drop to £90 including UK Special Delivery.
Cheers
