anyone on here care to give their views on these two as a comparison? the mkv seems to have a mass of components compared to the solo, and is dual mono (whatever that is). does this mean it is "technically" superior? any comments appreciated! thanks

I will have to let others comment on how they compare, but dual mono suggestion is normally where both channels are completely separate, and share no components, not even the power supply. Different manufacturers usually twist this around to suit their own marketing needs, some even using a shared power supply, or even both channels on the same PCB, without common components. This usually, but not always, results in better isolation between channels, and MAY be technically superior. However, many dual I.C.s made to day, have excellent isolation between both channels, and provided a good power supply is used , it may be hard to pick the difference between both methods.

Cadillac vs Chevrolet, if you can afford the Solo then get it. Then you will never be looking at amps again.
