Could anyone help? I use MF x-cans V3 (modded my PF) with Grado RS-1 cans. I have heard that the Senn HD650 are also good headphones, but I have not listened to them. I am thinking of buying some HD650 cans but before doshing out the reddies, I would value any comments. Is it worth just buying them, or should I take all of my kit to the shop and audition them?

Thanks mrarroyo. I will look at the HD580 and 600. I suppose I should explain why I want to try some other cans when I already have a good pair. I have a young son and whilst I love the Grado RS-1s, as they are open back, when I play them loud, it irritates my wife watching TV next to me! I would like some cans that allow me to listen to high quality sound without upsetting anyone else in the room. It might be that I need to try other makes of headphones, but any advice from knowledgeable members would be appreciated.

I don't think the HD650s' will be much better than RS1s' for cutting noise leakage into the surrounding room. Maybe some closed back headphones would be better? I own a pair of HD600s' and GS1000s' and enjoy the sound from both, the Grados' sound more detailed and "accurate" to my ears, though they are a touch bright, especially with vocals. Not fully burned in yet though.

Thanks for the advice. I have heard some good reviews of the Audio Technica headphones. Does anyone know how they compare to Grado RS-1 or Senn HD600

I had a pair of the Audio Technica ATH W100 and they were one seriously nice sounding pair of headphones. I prefered them to the Grado SR325i I had at the time, the only major downside for me was they ran very hot on the ears so they had to go. Superb closed back phones though, I'm currently looking into the ATH-AD2000 air headphones if I can get them at a decent price they look like a seriously nice pair of 'phones to my eyes

I would love to listen to the audio-technica phones. Does anyone have any suggestions of where they are for sale? THe ATH-5000 look like a serious bit of kit
