Just received a pair of Grado PS-1's today ;D, have been using RS-1's. Although very early days and the need of a burn in my first impressions are very good indeed, so smooooth. People have said they need to be matched well with a amp that has good control on bass, the WNA headphone amp seems well at home with them. Will post some thoughts later on when they are running on full steam.

IIRC they are bassier than the RS1?
If so, is that low bass, or midbass that is increased?
(I personally way prefer the RS1 over the HP1 so not totally sure that i'd like the PS1... I think i've got too much RS1 blood in my veins)

Hi Duncan
Seems like both have increased, but maybe low end a bit more. Also the bass is a lot more defined and bass note's can be recognised very easily, not just a wall of bass hitting your ears. I don't think it is as over powering as I was made out to believe. Again may be the amp is balancing it all up very well. I think the PS-1's are a lot easier listen , every thing seems a lot more natural and realistic and not in your face like the RS-1's. Also the music seems to flow together a lot better then the RS-1's, and as other people have reported, and I can understand what they mean, the sound is very liquid.

Thanks for the update Captain... sounds promising ;D
Maybe I shouldn't listen to the PS1 just incase I were to like them more than the RS1... lol, €1400 is a lot of loot for me...
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a WNA, to see if I can sample the same synergy that you have - with the RS1...
Keep (or not... as my wallet would say) the comments coming!
Duncan.

The WNA amp with the Grado RS-1 is a great combo. Spoke with Jonathan Griffin who has this set up as well, and he seems really pleased. Any comments Jonathan I know your with us

Those PS-1's look very good indeed Kirk... you're going very high end indeed I would imagine the Dynahi would have enough juice to drive the AKG K-1000 so maybe they will be next in the pipeline?

I think i'm now getting to the point where I won't want (or need) to upgrade for a very long time. This old school source I have has bags of energy and vitality, and at the same time a good dose of dignity, which can also be said about the RS1 imho... so, with the WNA - if it is as good as, or - with synergy on its side, BETTER than the Amber... then - i'll be stoked!

The ANT Amber seems like a very good amp, a lot of people have said a lot of good things about it.. I can't comment as I haven't heard it but hope to do so one of these days.
Probably the biggest thing the WNA has got going for it is its ability to make light work of the most complex of passages.. picking out individual instruments / performers is an absolute doddle and it has me exploring every CD in my collection time and time again...... it won't reach out and grab you by the balls, it doesn't do drama or colouration... it's very neutral (dead flat throughout the range) and extremely fast with spot on timing.... if you like, the classic British Hi-Fi sound (no added bells and whistles or bass humps) you get what's on the recording... nothing more nothing less.
When it arrives Duncan try to avoid the side by side comparison. Try the WNA for a week and then try another amp.. I know a lot of people audition amps through comparators and flick between each amp every 20 seconds but all that does is confuse and usually the amp that sounds the beefiest through a comparator turns out to be fatiguing long term.. the one that sounds the weediest through the comparator generally turns out to be the best long term bet sounding completely neutral.....
Anyways have fun with it and do let us know how you find it :-)
Mike.
