not exactly my favorite genre (age thing ) but I do listen occasionally plus one of my sons LIVES for this sh*t so imagine my surprise when I discovered one of my co-workers not only has a band but that they actually write all their own songs so i ask for a CD,give a listen and have to say considering what it is (NOT my first choice in music ) it IS good in that framework so if there is any actual interest will try and find a site where i can upload the tracks for download so others can judge and yes i have permission and more they want the exposure having been beating their brains out trying to go national for some time now Rick

So my puke of a son went missing with the CD so he can turn on his buds to the cuts which means ripping and converting the bitch then parking the files somewhere is off my "to Do" list at this time so what do I do now ? What do i do after AL the fkn hub bub and drama ? THIS PUNKO !the bands blog : profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=18051522and a link to the CD i have though not having listened to the tracks can't vouch for the quality and if i know one thing it is that this type of music can sound REALLY BAD if not mastered then reproduced correctly so i WILL get the high quality tracks up at some point........that point being after i whip Mini Me's ass and get back the CD Oh yeah.The band is 8 Weeks Dead

OOOPS ! Ricktardation strikes again ! guess my mom was right when she told me "between that funeral music and all the drugs your brain is going to rot out of your tiny head" during my ELP/Rick Wakeman era Yes/Bloodrock/Triumvirant and psychadelic drug period (Timothy leary was wrong dammit and the only saving grace for me was i more gray matter to spare me starting out with more than the average human to begin with so after losing chunks STILL had more going on than most humans can even aspire to on their BEST day ) ;D anyhoo......(drumroll please ) the CD link cdbaby.com/cd/8weeksdead

I expect I will either be deaf,totally nutso or in the hospital the day after ALSO : been a damn lot of years since I set up a band so maybe I fk up and they have to do an "all acoustic" set AND : The boys dad plays for the Local Legend Southern rock Band "Whitewood" that if you live anywhere in the area you would know they having opened for a shitload of international and national acts (most recently Molley Hatchet) and who headlined their very own "Whitewood Bash" which ran for I beleive 12 years annually. This "bash" was a combination biker rally/pig roast/drunk fest/titty con contest and "let's see what we can fk" deal that for some strange reason I always ended up wearing a "Security" shirt at as if I was interested in being responsible at the best bash of the summer.........NOT !

Not any disrespect to Rick but I find this cheekily amusing to resurrect it. Death Metal? Well, he sure is there already ................

I did get an incredible deal on a Amon Amarth CD plus concert DVD for less than $11 USD total. And it's an amazingly good concert too. I don't have much prior experience with metal, but I think almost anyone would appreciate the concert DVD.

That was a fun collection of classic metal. Something I missed when I hung with the punkers back in the 80's, when the metal guys pushed us off the Strip for good. Those were the days. I didn't even get it when everyone was grooving on bands like GWAR. Death metal (or black metal) finally made sense when I saw a couple of clips on youtube for Black Metal Babysitting. --And I never knew about Jack Black. He does metal like Shane West does Darby Crash.

I've got 2 teenagers at home who wouldn't miss a concert/festival where this shit is played. As a bonus, I get to hear this shit as their wake-up call on their phones every morning. Even one floor lower it's annoying like hell. It sounds like noise, but pink or white noise is definitely more pleasant to listen to.
OTOH, I started to explore Deep Purple the last couple of years and i like the old stuff. But Deep Purple is probably pussy-music in the eyes of death metal fans.

The "music" tracks won't be very entertaining with the growling and stuff, but in the case of Amon, the concert DVD was very entertaining and the price of $10 for DVD and CD - excellent. Keep the DVD, then find someone you hate and give the CD to their kids.

I just don't get this growling thing I like heavy, fast 'n' loud and the instruments are fine but then that friggin' growling starts and I switch off. I'm obviously far too old and out of touch. My son likes a little of it but then he also likes some fo our stuff like Dio etc. So there is hope PS when our kids and grandkids say rock from our era was "pussy" i always come out with the chestnut of "pioneering, original, if it wasn't for them....blah, blah" BUT... I found on youtube a comment that put the case far better;

For sure, I wouldn't buy or attend these concerts even if they are FREE! Why go there to torture myself for about 2 hrs. But yet I can tell you there are people buying into these very acts. If there is no money to be made, why still have such nonsense rock. In fact, this type of act don't need any talent to do it. Just make sure you are always sick and have a sore throat and growl. Why bother to remember the lyrics too. The people attending also don't know what you are growling about. At least singing, you need talent to sing well. You have to remember the lyrics too as people do understand what you are singing.

Keep the DVD, then find someone you hate and give the CD to their kids. Oh, don't give it to the kids. The kids will greatfully thank you. Give it to the one you hate. Ok, ok, I understand. Make the kids play death metal day in and day out in the house of the one you hate. Brilliant idea!

Never really listened to any Whitesnake, but that is about to change - what a cracking track Mike. Don't know who the singer is but he sounds a hell of a lot like Robert Plant.

I just don't get this growling thing The first of these I remember is GWAR. Very popular in the late 1980's - featured in the film Mystery Date (very funny film). If you see for example some of Amon Amarth's concert film, you see it's an adventure story, not just random "songs". Think of old Norse legends, Vikings, mass slayings of men, women, children and pets, massive plunder, etc. etc.
