"Songs from the Analog Playground" Guest vocals by Mos Def, Norah Jones, Kurt Elling. If you're in to Martin, Medeski & Wood you'll love this

Do you have the John Schofield CD with Martin, Medeski & Wood. Absolutely brilliant.
My friend had a Charlie Hunter record a few years back. I seem to recall it was on Blue Note Records.

Charlie's good but his "sound", much like MM&W, across albums does not vary that much... he doesn't explore new territory. Good music, but narrow perspective IMO. I saw Scofield live (back in March of this year) with Bill Stewart on drums and Paul Bley on bass. Front stage table... awesome show and only $30 for the ticket!!!

I've heard that recording long ago but I don't really get too excited about Scofield as I find Scofield's efforts in the same bin as Charlie and MM&W...Charlie's good but his "sound" across albums does not vary that much... he doesn't explore new territory. All good music, but narrow perspectives IMO. Pat Metheny is another one...he's an extremely talented musician but he needs to set aside the synth... he's beat it into the ground IMO He's done some great acoustic work and I'd really like to hear him do a hardcore fusion effort instead of contiually going to the trough with that "airy" muffed-organ emulating sound...try exploring distortion Pat... throw down something ominous....I double-dog dare you!!! I saw Scofield live (back in March of this year) with Bill Stewart on drums and Steve Swallow on bass. Front stage table... awesome show and only $30 for the ticket!!!

Now, Bill Frisell. He's my fav guitarist at present now. The album, "The Intercontinentals" is great. He does love a lot of reverb on this one.
Also, he shows up a lot in the credits on a lot of other albums. Very innovative and a pleasure to listen to.

It's him with Elvis Costello on vocals in a German niteclub...AWESOME
