Universally hated by all members of the Rock Grotto or not?
I enjoy some c/w influenced or tinged music. Neil Young's "Decade" cd is a current fave. Also love some Glen Campbell tunes, 'Wichita Lineman' & 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix'
Always wanted to hear some serious Gram Parsons or Johnny Cash though.

I grew up in a home where there was a bit of everything and also a lot of I'd say contemporary C&W and Country rock. I still enjoy my Gram Parsons Cd's and records but also Flying Burrito Brothers, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, The Outlaws etc. In contrast I also listen to Jazz, Pop, Funk, Blues, Soul.... As we all know there are gems in any style... Cheers, Dennis

First off I am in no way a fan of C & W in general. However, Gram Parson's "GP/Grievous Angel" twofer CD set is one of my favourite discs. Tracks like "The New Soft Shoe", "Hearts on Fire" and "Brass Buttons" are really beautiful. If you haven't heard any of this stuff I would recommend that you get this set as soon as possible. I'm also a sucker for Johnny Cash and have recently been listening to "Live at Folsom Prison" which is so full of passion. Also the video for "Hurt" that Johnny recorded shortly before both his wife and he passed away also gets me very time. The way Johnny closes the piano lid at the end of the video brings a lump to my throat. See the video on Youtube here :- www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go

You might need to be Australian to appreciate the bush humour, but Chad Morgan has always been a favourite with me, especially The Fatal Wedding, The Sheikh of Scrubby Creek and the Duckinwilla Dance - lyric sample - "yes I've been in a mental home but don't you laugh will you, 'cause I've got a paper to prove I'm sane, can you produce one too?"
