Picked up the Television Marquee Moon and Funkadelik Maggot Brain Albums last week. The Funkadelik Albums track 1 has a fantastic spaced out guitar solo and the Television album is also no slouch if you like guitar based music.

I've never heard "Marquee Moon" but I believe it's very influential in the history of rock. In fact the only Television track I can recall is "Prove It".

Funkadelic's Maggot Brain is a must for the first track alone - feat. Eddie Hazel, my favourite guitar solo ever so emotional - Clinton told him to play as though his mother had just died - this is the solo of all solos so spine tingling done in one take, remastered CD now available cheaply on amazon etc, you haven't lived until you've heard this song!

I was too young when this stuff was originally published and although I've listened to thousands of albums during the last decades I've finally discovered the Maggot Brain album only recently. My spouse moaned something in the lines of "where the f.... do you dig out that old hippie music", but what does she know ...... Especially the title track no. 1 is great. I wouldn't call it funk though, but who cares about the label anyway ........
