My house is about to be repossesed, I can't find a job, etc. etc. Life is a mess. However, nothing is worse for me right now than the realization that I'll never hear another XTC record. Recent developments with Andy's severe tinnitus and Colin's unwilligness to participate leave the possibility of future projects cold.
Replace XTC with your favorite band of all time (maybe already long gone), and you'll know. So many songs and such powerful memories and feelings behind each one, I guess I just figured it would never end, even if there were seven years between albums.

That doesn't matter! XTC is gone. That's my only concern at this point. Houses come and go. There will never be another XTC.

I used to like a bit of XTC, not as much as my house mind you. Was "English Settlement" their finest moment? I kinda lost touch after that album.

Most consider it to be their finest, but that album is basically the last old style XTC album and simultateously the first new style album. I'd say their finest is Nonsuch, which was third to last. The last two are very polarized towards two different areas of pop.

Is that a promise? I take it from the tone of your post that XTC are not in the top 10 pinkie list! I cannot comment ... I read the post, tried to think of an XTC track I knew, I couldn't ... so by rights, I shouldn't even have jumped in on this thread!
